The Other Jesus

Recent research has demonstrated that the term 'Christian' can attract negative associations such as hypocrisy, fear of hell, and a one-sided commitment to right-wing politics. 'The Other Jesus' wants to take a fresh perspective on the Christian faith. It argues that Christianity focuses far too often on personal morality and avoiding hell. Instead, Garrett argues that the faith should concentrate on Jesus' words and their underlying messages.

'The Other Jesus' refers to the 'other way' of following Jesus: one that is not confined to the avoidance of hell, but one that embraces the positive experiences we have presented to us in life. Garrett wants your faith to center on loving people and loving God.

Garrett explores the issue of Christianity by drawing on his personal experiences growing up in a conservative Christian church, leaving this church, and eventually returning to a different, more contemporary Christian community.
