The Monster Within
Full Product Description
Brian Greenaway shares his incredible life story in his new book, 'The Monster Within' – his childhood of rejection and bullying, his rebellious youth, his crimes as the gang leader of the Hells Angels, his time in Dartmoor Prison, his Paul-like conversion and his redeemed life as a Prison Chaplin.
Brian has been transformed – from a 'monster' to a 'messenger' – and this is his story. His powerful autobiography is a:
• Wake-up call to rebellious youths on a destructive path
• Faith-enhancing experience for new Christians
• Mind-blowing story of God’s love for Christians who have forgotten what it was like to live without it!
The people who pick up this book and take the time to read it will feel Brian’s emotions seep into their soul. They will connect with Brian’s traumatic experiences and relate to the human longings for a father, for purpose and for healing from the darkness of humanity.
Ultimately, they will read that this man who was destroyed by crime, drugs and violence was saved by a gracious, loving God. This book isn’t just a powerful evangelistic tool; it’s also a life-affirming book every Christian should read.
The British Nicky Cruz, Brain Greenaway has worked as a Prison Chaplin for over 30 years in Wandsworth Prison, High Down prison, Maidstone and Coldingly Prison. His ongoing ministry is to make contact with prisoners, build constructive relationships and share the good news of Jesus Christ.

The Monster WithinBarry Vendy, via The Good Book Stall
In his highly readable latest book, Brian Greenaway writes first about how his life began with his neglect as a child, leading to his becoming a violent ‘Hell’s Angel’, and to his imprisonment in Dartmoor. That’s where he became a Christian in 1973, much influenced by reading the Living Bible and Nicky Cruz. He describes things that happened afterwards, like study at Moorlands Bible College, but found God leading him to prison work and visiting. The ‘ex-con’ had become a ‘Rev’! He eventually became a member of the chaplaincy team at Wandsworth Prison. But he is frank about all the times when he realises the ‘monster’ is still there, beneath the surface. Writing this autobiography coincides with his retirement after 32 years of ministry: but Brian and his wife know that ‘God has a new ministry for us just round the corner, which we believe could be with hurting people, including those who have been hurt by the Church.’ He writes ‘I am excited by the prospect of a new direction and the tremendous privilege of continuing to serve such a wonderful God.’
