The Hidden Flame
Full Product Description
In first-century Judea, the followers of the Way have burgeoned into a vibrant, growing community that cannot be ignored. Jerusalem is in turmoil as its religious leaders on one side, and their Roman rulers on the other, conspire to stamp out the fledgling Church. And Abigail, who thought she had finally found home and safety, is caught between the opposing forces.
Two suitors desire the lovely Abigail's hand in marriage. Ezra, a successful Hebrew merchant and widower with important connections among the Sanhedrin, is looking for a mother for his children. The Roman soldier Linux is fascinated by her winsome charm and possibly could offer the sanctuary--maybe even the love--for which she yearns. But her heart has been captured by neither of these. Will her faith and courage survive a heartbreak beyond comprehension as the followers face a gathering storm of persecution they never could have foreseen?
A glimmer of hope beckons Abigail forward, one she never would have foreseen.
The Hidden Flame is an exciting story of love, hope and faith. It displays a huge amount of experiences that people would have gone through in biblical times, showing the power of Christianity and exploring lifetimes that where lived so long ago. This is an ancient story relived in the form of The Hidden Flame, a truly remarkable description of turmoil and love.

The Hidden FlameMary Bartholomew, via The Good Book Stall
Following on from The Centurion’s Wife Alban the Roman soldier and Leah ward of Pontius Pilate are married at a gathering of the believers of the Way but trouble is brewing for the followers of Jesus, who they believe to be the risen messiah long awaited by the Judeans. This story centres around Abigail and her brother Jacob. Abigail a close friend of Leah’s, Jacob found and adopted by Alban and now restored to his sister.
Alban’s centurion friend Linus sees Abigail and desires her for his wife, as does an older Judean merchant seeking a mother for his children. Abigail has no wish to be married to either but as the story unfolds and the tensions around the believers increases you get a strong sense of what life at that time must have been like. Abigail works long hours under the supervision of Martha, caring for the poor, the widows and orphans as their Lord and Master taught them. Peter the fisherman from Galilee has become the strong leader that they all look up to, and Abigail is happy to follow his guidance into a new life with Stephen, but tragedy lies ahead....
