In 1956, his grandfather was speared to death by the Waodani Indians. Years later, Jesse Saint returns to the Amazon jungle to live with the tribe that murdered his grandfather. Jesse had no idea what it would be like to live in the rain forest and initially finds it difficult to adapt to a place which is plagued by the memory of his murdered grandfather.
In a journey of respect and forgiveness, Jesse presses on with building a new community called Nemompade and befriends the three old tribesmen who murdered his grandfather to teach them about Christian values.
One of the men who had killed his grandfather helps Jesse to build the new community. Even though that man has the same hands that murdered the grandfather, he has a different heart: in these people's culture, it would be Jesse Saint's responsibility to go back and kill him. It is therefore just as hard for his grandfather's killer to reach out to Jesse as it is for Jesse to reach out to him.
The Grandfathers is part of Jim Hanon's trilogy which includes "Beyond the Gates of Splendor" and "End of the Spear."
This DVD is Region 0 and will play on a UK DVD player.
