You, Your Family and the Internet: What Every Christian in the Digital Age Should KnowMelanie Carroll, via The Good Book Stall
This is an excellent book taken from a series of articles: it clearly and intelligently deals with the issues of the internet, ranging from a quick summary and history of the internet through to online gaming, social media, gambling and pornography and also what the internet knows about you. It is up-to-date and deeply relevant to so many discussions going on in the wider world, let alone in our daily lives courtesy of the internet itself.
The good thing with this book is that it not only addresses the topics in an easy to understand way but it also addresses them in a way that identifies the biblical and moral principles we should have in mind when using the internet.
Though fair to say much of what it addresses is likely already known, it is nevertheless well presented and worth a read to remind ourselves that the internet should at best only be a tool that we control and not something that controls us.
At the end of each part is a small discussion section and I do think this would be a great book to use in small group sessions, and a really good book to use with a youth group too: I can imagine it would be a catalyst for some really interesting conversations.
