Full Product Description
Author and professional speaker David Rich knows how to stimulate readers and get them to ask questions--such as "You mean that isn't in the Bible?" In this book, David turns his attention to ten popular notions commonly believed by Christians...but found nowhere in Scripture.
Such beliefs, he indicates, are based in human-centered "religion" that waters God's Word down into pop culture. However, in every case, the Bible's true originals are vastly more liberating than sentiments like... God helps those who help themselves Believers are God's co-pilots Christians aren't perfect, just forgiven
David's enthusiastic, energetic, easy-to-read style--which reflects his many years as a speaker--pulls his audience 100-percent into his arguments. Though readers may not agree with him right away, they will be challenged...and they "will" be motivated to check their Bibles and see why the unadulterated version of God's truth is always the best news.

You Mean That Isn't In The Bible?Helen Hancox, via The Good Book Stall
This book is a laudable attempt to look afresh at some beliefs to which people might hold that aren't actually true; these include 'God helps those who help themselves', 'believers are God's co-pilots', 'God wants you to be rich' and the rather bizarre 'when we die we become angels'. David Rich bemoans the situation in many churches today where people only believe what their Pastors tell them, rather than studying the Bible themselves; however his own particular doctrinal positions (that he is a creationist, a fundamentalist, an evangelical and a Calvinist) are firmly behind much of his argument in this book which might limit its appeal to many readers as he makes little reference to differences in interpretation of various passages and that other views might have some validity. Many of his explanations I found unconvincing, even if I might agree with the overall concept, and his rather didactic style didn't seem congruent with his status as (apparently) a well-respected motivational speaker.
