Perplexingly miserable - Cath, got kids that love God, Newcastle upon Tyne

I bought the album because I wanted some classic Christmas songs, with a bit of energy, to use in my kid's Christmas play. The album was totally unusable because every song that I hoped to use was done in such a miserable style. Definatly not the best that these bands can offer. I binned mine after one listen.

Outstanding - John from Liverpool

I couldn't dis-agree with the review of the previous writer as this album is outstanding for a lot of reasons. Firstly, the artists are proven artists who have released successful CD's in the past so with a little common sense you can check these bands out on the Internet or even the store you are buying this from or, ask around the youth in your Church what they think of these bands. Secondly, the songs they have chosen for most of them have a lot of childhood memories and mean a lot to them (each artist has written a short summary of why they chose the song) and thirdly, and most importantly, they have put there own spin on such classics as Silent night, Away in a Manger etc. These are unique spins which have really worked. Now, I'm not sure why you would buy an album like this to use this album in your Children's play and not check out the artists considering such names as Jays of Clay, Barlow Girl and 3rd Day, but the Casting Crowns version of Away in a Manger is outstanding and frankly, Jays of Clay's Drummer boy is the best version I've heard wiping the floor with the classic Bing Crosby / David Bowie version. I'm sorry, but the only 'Perplexingly miserable' around here is the previous review!!!

Outstanding Variety - John from Liverpool

When I purchased this CD, I was taking a chance. There was only a few artists who I knew. How much I was relieved having when I played this CD? Very! Not all the tracks are my favourites but most are. I love the variety, the personal stories which go this CD, and the artists own little interpretation on age old songs! If you are a misery then my advice is, order this CD then bin it, but personally, I would have given it to someone who would have enjoyed it!
