Word And Spirit Together
Full Product Description
This is the new edition of a book first published by Hodder and Stoughton, now completely reset and with a new cover.
It is vital that Charismatic and Evangelical Christians should be united in witness and proclamation. This book helps us to see how this is possible, as the author goes behind and beyond the controversies and considers the content and application of Scripture.
For all concerned for witness and unity amongst believers. The author's established audience (for his tapes, books, programmes) have been asking for the book to be made available again. Booksellers will be aware of the key position this author occupies amongst British Christian writers, with many high-volume titles in print.
Word And Spirit Together by David Pawson was published by Terra Nova Publications in June 2007 and is our 22695th best seller. The ISBN for Word And Spirit Together is 9781901949537.

Word and Spirit TogetherJohnny Douglas, via The Good Book Stall
Synthesis of the faithfulness and openness to the Word and the Holy Spirit is at the heart of David Pawson?s writing. The author, a widely recognized theologian in British evangelical and charismatic circles, argues for the importance of dialogue between these two movements, especially given the charismatic emphases on experiencing the gift of the Spirit as well as moving in the spiritual gifts, and the evangelical commitment to the apostolic gospel and to proclaiming it. The spiritual gifts should not be confused with the fruits of the Spirit, even while those who exhibit the fruits of the Spirit should aspire to be used by God through the charismatic gifts. Resolutions of differences are done well, and warmly. The chapter on the three types of charismatics in the New Testament was particularly strong, incisive and original. Pawson offers much here for the reader, with the only frustration being the re-canned content from a previous mid-1990's edition and appendix resources straining back to the mid 1960?s.
This is a helpful tool to keeping alert to the power of the Word and the surprises of the Spirit to redefine our preconceived ideas both about what God is doing in the world, and about what we should be doing as well. Helpful and thought through but lacking sparkle!
