Charles Haddon Spurgeon (1834–1892) is one of the most beloved preachers in the history of the English-speaking world. He was a celebrated Baptist preacher who served for thirty years at the Metropolitan Tabernacle, which seated 6000 people. It is estimated that during his lifetime, Spurgeon preached to 10,000,000 people. The collected sermons of Spurgeon during his ministry with the New Park Street Church and the Metropolitan Tabernacle fill 63 volumes. In 1865, early in his career, his sermons sold 25,000 per week. His influence reached around the world in his day, and continues to this day through the legacy of his writings, over a hundred years after his death.
