Treasures of the KingHelen Hancox, via The Good Book Stall
This devotional book looks at the Psalms and how they can trace the course of David's life as well as revealing insights into God's nature. The author looks deeply at 13 psalms giving much of the background information about David's life as he goes along. He doesn't spend too much time relating what is being explored to present-day Christian life, instead allowing the reader to draw their own conclusions. This is a scholarly work which offers Hebrew words (transliterated into English) as well as the author's comments on various translations and their deficiencies and requires a fair bit of extra Bible reading and other research to fully appreciate the text. It's not a book for a quick devotional study but will reward those who spend time with it.
