    Product Description

Author Matt Chandler provides real, everyday ways to pursue faith; chasing, knowing God, and loving Jesus as the goal: To live is Christ, to die is gain — this is the message of the Philippians.

This is the short and simple guide to the message of Philippians - arguably the Bible’s most quoted book. Often quoted in sound-bites, this is the letter that Paul wrote to paint a rich portrait of you as a mature Christian.

Chandler doesn't take apart the book of Philippians verse by verse. Instead he covers all of Paul's major themes: living a worthy life, what the humble seek, rejoicing, worry, and contentment in down-to-earth, conversational, non-academic language.

Chandler links Paul’s various themes with the common thread of dying to self, pursuing Jesus, and allowing the Holy Spirit to transform you. He helps you see ways you can apply the principles to your own life and grow spiritually.

Written for those new to the Bible, and those not so new still want to learn something new. Practical and useful, you’ll find applications to real life, and gain a better idea of what it means to say, "To Live is Christ, to Die is Gain."

Matt serves as Lead Pastor of Teaching at The Village Church in the Dallas Fort Worth area. He has served in that role since December 2002 and describes his tenure at The Village as a re-planting effort where he was involved in changing the theological and philosophical culture of the congregation. The church has witnessed a tremendous response growing from 160 people to over 11,000 with campuses in Flower Mound, Dallas and Denton.

Alongside his current role as lead pastor, Matt is involved in church planting efforts both locally and internationally through The Village and various strategic partnerships. Prior to accepting the pastorate at The Village, Matt had a vibrant itinerant ministry for over 10 years where he spoke to thousands of people in America and abroad about the glory of God and beauty of Jesus.

Recently, Matt was named president of Acts 29, a worldwide church-planting organization. Over the last 10 years, Acts 29 has emerged from a small band of brothers to over 400 churches in the United States and networks of churches in multiple countries. His other books include, The Explicit Gospel and Creature of the Word.

Using Paul's radical letter to the Philippians as his road map, Matt Chandler forsakes the trendy to invite readers into authentic Christian maturity.

The short book of Philippians is one of the most quoted in the Bible, yet Paul wrote it not for the popular sound bites, but to paint a picture of a mature Christian faith. While many give their lives to Jesus, few then go on to live a life of truly vibrant faith.

In this disruptively inspiring book, Chandler offers tangible ways to develop a faith of pursuing, chasing, knowing, and loving Jesus. Because if we clean up our lives but don't get Jesus, we've lost! So let the goal be Him. To live is Christ, to die is gainthis is the message of the letter. Therefore, our lives should be lived to Him, through Him, for Him, with Him, about Himeverything should be about Jesus.
