The Four Friends unit uses the Bible story included in Mark 2:1-12; Matthew 9:2-8; Luke 5:17-26.

While at home in Capernaum, Jesus began to teach the people who were gathered there. Before long the house was full, and not another person could fit inside. Four people came, carrying their paralyzed friend. They wanted Jesus to heal him. When they discovered they could not get inside, they climbed onto the roof and began to dig a hole through it. When the hole was big enough, they lowered their friend down to Jesus! Jesus saw their faith and said to the man, "Your sins are forgiven." The scribes were upset that Jesus claimed to be able to forgive sins, because only God can do that. Jesus turned to the lame man and said, "Get up, take your mat, and walk." The man was healed! When the crowd saw him walking they were amazed and praised God for this miracle.
