About This paperback
Teaching Christian Citizenship is a resource that can be widely used by teachers of Key Stage 2 children and aims to encourage thought, discussion and debate whilst demonstrating that Christianity provides a strong basis for good citizenship and guidance in PSHE.
Each of the 16 units begins with a contemporary story, which links to a biblical story. These are followed by group and individual activities and worksheets based around the stories, which include: Literacy (with different activities provided for Year 3-4 and Year 5-6 children); Drama; Citizenship and PSHE; Circle Time; Prayer; and Hymns. The material is fully photocopiable.
Each unit has clear links showing how it relates to the National Curriculum for PSHE and the QCA units on Citizenship.
The Bible stories covered in the sixteen units are:
• David and Goliath • The Ten Commandments • Moses • Ahab and Naboth's garden • Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego/Daniel in the lions' den • The birth of Jesus • Jesus, the boy in the Temple • The sermon on the Mount • The temptation of Jesus • Miracles • Feeding the five thousand • Walking on water • The good Samaritan • Jesus and Zacchaeus • Jesus in the Temple • Peter's denial
