The Sermon on the Mount, according to John Stott, ‘is probably the best known part of the teaching of Jesus... arguably it is the least understood and certainly it is the least obeyed.’ This workbook covers the whole of Matthew 5-7 and provides the perfect introduction to the Sermon On The Mount and its radical challenges. Published to coincide with the Spring Harvest 2001 theme King of the Hill, it can be used to follow on from the Spring Harvest seminars and teaching, in conjunction with the 2001 Study Guide or as a standalone Bible Study.
This workbook is specifically designed for use in housegroups and Lent courses, although it can be for personal use as well. Containing material and ideas for eight sessions, each session can fill a whole evening but need not be a straitjacket - there is plenty of space for creativity. Each session contains:
- Aims
- Bible passage to study
- Carefully developed questions and activities
- Discussion ideas
- Worship suggestions
- Homework
Jenny Baker worked with Youth for Christ for many years and directed the ‘function’ programme, before joining CARE for Education as Department Manager. She is now a freelance writer and trainer, working with CARE, Youthwork, the Stapleford Centre and Spring Harvest.
