These songs can be sung many times, creating a powerful and worshipful effect, often growing in intensity. Instrumental parts, improvisational in style, can weave in and out and there are often parts for solo singers, which are either sung as verses separate from the refrain or integrated into the refrain. The chants (as they are often called) of Taizé are in many languages, reflecting the nature of the community. On this recording, English, French and Latin are the languages used.
