The Book of SecretsMary Bartholomew, via The Good Book Stall
Set in the future when global warming has done its worst, all that is left of dry land are the high hills and life has reverted to the primitive ways of former times. Jamie and Rob are friends who live on one of the Scottish islands, but know little about the rest of Scotland except that there is a big town called Embra far away: Rob’s Uncle once travelled that far. They get caught up in an adventure with Ali who turns out to be a girl – but you need to read it for yourself to find out more! It is exciting and stretches the imagination but glimpses of the familiar show through the course of the Book. Everything hinges on that. I thoroughly it although it is intended for 8 - 11s.
