Reading Paul explores the central themes of the apostle's gospel. Gorman places special emphasis on the theo-political character of Paul?s gospel and on its themes of cross and resurrection, multiculturalism in the church, peacemaking and nonviolence as the way of Christ.

Gorman also offers a distinctive interpretation of justification by faith as participation in Christ. Unlike many introductions to Paul, this one makes a contribution to the ongoing discussion of the significance of the apostle, both as an historical figure and as a contemporary voice.
