God given passion and skills to communicate the gospel to children
Andy Robb was brought up in a Christian household so the Bible was around. But it wasn't until he was saved that God's word came alive to him and he ‘devoured it and believed it’ as he says.
Coming from a family that loved and appreciated books – his dad and brother ran a bookshop, he began cartooning and illustrating about as soon as he could pick up a paintbrush. For him, he says, a love of books and a love of illustrating and go hand in hand.
Andy’s Professor Bumblebrain series is his second series of books with publisher CWR. His purpose was to develop a book that tackled head on some of the key themes of the Bible. They started out under the series title: 'Just about everything you need to know about...' Then he developed a central character to carry themes whom Andy named Professor Bumblebrain.
This was quite a blunt, off the wall, straight speaking but humorous character who would front the arguments. Then the wacky prof took on a life of his own and became the spearhead of the series and ended up taking over the title of the book!
Andy gets a lot of feedback from educationalists, parents and church groups about his books. One, from a Mum who was trying to get her 9 year old to read the Bible, said she’d got for her son a copy of one of Andy’s books and as a result the child wanted to get a copy of the Bible for himself.
With his God given passion to communicate and bring alive the Bible to kids, it’s clear that God has also given Andy Robb the skills to help them get into God’s word.
