About This Hardback
The author attempts in this book to bridge the gap he believes has developed between books on the Old Testament theology that either give too much information or too little. Some of them can either seem daunting to students and pastors or they do not deal with many theological issues and questions the Old Testament raises.
The book begins by giving an outline to the relationship between exegesis and biblical theology in the task of interpretation and application of biblical texts. This book gives an overview of the themes and central issues found in Old Testament theology in the main text and gives more detail to those issues in the footnotes, with further references and discussion. He aims to examine the theological significance of the text in a more canonical context, showing the coherence (and diversity) between Old Testament texts and even between itself and the New Testament.
It will be useful for those who are engaging in theological and biblical studies, but also for those who want to take the theological content of the Old Testament and apply it to the life of the church.
Robin Routledge is a Senior Lecturer in Old Testament and Academic Registrar at the Mattersey Hall, England.
