One Fine PotionMelanie Carroll, via The Good Book Stall
A timely, intelligent and interesting addition to the books on the Harry Potter phenomena.
Rowling's Harry Potter series has consistently topped the bestseller charts as each new book arrived, and inspired a blockbuster film series that concluded in 2011, and has now gone on to produce it’s own website which is the only place one can buy Ebook versions of the books, so the question surely must be what is it about these stories that has captured the public’s attention and caused this reaction? Greg Garrett contends that it is because the stories follow deeply rooted narratives and moral themes that resonate with us, others, and the world around us. It’s a wonderfully written, easy to follow, semi-academic work with some amazingly well drawn parallels between existing literature, religious thought and philosophical insight. Definitely a book for any Potter fan, but more than that it’s a great book for anyone wanting to understand what makes for a good story.
