On the First Day of the WeekPaddy Beresford, via The Good Book Stall
Iain Campbell’s book reminds us that the Sabbath was instituted at creation and a day of rest is God's gift to mankind. It’s not a Jewish thing, nor does it mean Saturday [or Sunday] - in Hebrew it simply means "rest". The Sabbath was important to Jesus, as he proclaimed Himself to be the Lord of the Sabbath. This book is a balanced overview of the various views held today and demonstrates that the blessings of the Sabbath day are there for all to see - it sends a signal to unbelievers that there is God who recommends a weekly rest, it gives believers an opportunity to worship, and strengthen family ties, and it promotes health and sanity. A good and necessary read!
