Measure Of A Heart
Full Product Description
Everyone knows that Anna Trent is a woman of worth. Everyone except Anna, that is. The oldest child in a farming family, Anna feels fortunate to have received an education. She loved school, loved to learn, loved the excitement of discovery. But now, as she graduates at age sixteen, it looks like all that is over.
Then Austin Barker comes to town to fill the pastorate for the summer months. The young seminarian is captured by Anna's intense desire to learn. Through his books and correspondence, Anna's education continues to expand, and the sweet country girl grows into a lovely young woman.
Still, Anna is shocked when Austin asks her to marry him. Why would he choose her? If only her feelings of inadequacy and self-consciousness would go away...

The Measure of a HeartMary Bartholomew, via The Good Book Stall
I settled into a warm cosy bed after a hectic day and absorbed myself in this book forgetting all the cares of the day! The first words on the back cover outline the theme of this endearing story, ‘Everyone knows that Anna Trent is a woman of worth. Everyone except Anna, that is.’ This story of a highly intelligent girl from a humble farming family a hundred years ago, starts as Anna is leaving school with her eighth-grade certificate and follows her life through as she marries a poor Minister and they struggle financially while doing their utmost for their congregation and neighbours. They have two young daughters, and are very happy together, but Anna is dogged by feelings of inexperience and inadequacy, which rob her of any joy in her own achievements. Settle back and enjoy how this tale weaves through their lives to a happy ending.
