The book covers topics such as: funerals and ceremonies; absence and presence; anger and guilt; regret and relief; loss and despair; energy and sleep; support and comfort; and anniversaries and remembrances. Personal stories, anecdotes and quotations are also included, along with evocative colour images that create a sense of peace and allow space for reflection.

Learning to live again - Patricia, aged 68, from Leeds. Love books, love Amazon.
This book was bought for me by a friend, and it was so good I have loaned it to other bereaved friends who have then gone on to buy a copy for themselves. The religious tracts didn't do it for me so I skipped them, but they will doubtless bring comfort to someone whose faith is stronger than mine. The main comfort for me was that I realised I wasn't the only person in the world who felt like I did. In other words it was the normal grieving process I was going through, and still am 18 months on. As the foreword says, if the book doesn't help one day, read it another day as your emotions will be all over the place. Recommend it to anyone who is trying to cope with the pain of bereavement.
Speaking frankly - Colin Midgley 55, retired Chartered Surveyor, now prospective Ordinand
I bought this book to help others having gone through the sudden death of my wife to Asthma a year ago. I judge every book I read on the basis of am I enjoying reading this? or would I re-write it? If you are a woman this book is fine. The author has clearly chatted with woman friends particularly one with an odd name - Sheilagh - and read a couple of books by well known people. There are some good bits, some nice photos, but the constant reference to women's experiences on first name terms, and minimal reference to a man's perspective, begins to make your concentration wander. All in all about worth the £6 or so I paid. But definately worth re-writing - oh yes! but get some male input before you start again Sue Mayfield
