Ultramodern – bold – remarkable... the Worship Central Team have released their third album, Let It Be Known and it’s more than exceeding all our expectations.
17.02.13 saw the release of the single and superb new anthem – Let It Be Known. The entire album was recorded live back in 2012 over two nights at HTB Onslow Square, London. Now they’ve released 13 brand songs to capture the imagination of worship leader’s and fill our buildings with up-to-date praise this generation can connect with.
Highlights include the title track, which has its very own trailer showing Tim Hughes fist bumping along to the edgy beats and hundreds of worshippers raising His name up. ‘Dry Bones’ is a beautiful expression of our need for God and God’s willingness to pour his love on us, set to an atmospheric backdrop of swelling harmonies and cascading guitars. And the worshipful tour-de-force – ‘Our Generation’ – will undoubtedly be an instant hit at Soul Survivor 2013, inspiring people to live for God’s kingdom.
This album is shaking up worship culture; watch out mundane, out-of-date worship – ‘Let It Be Known’ has brought praise back into the forefront of modern music.
Let It Be Known CD by Worship Central was published by Kingsway in March 2013 and is our 12161st best seller. The ISBN for Let It Be Known CD is 0000768514627.
“A massive step forward, this will be counted as one of the best worship albums ever.” – Jono Davies, LouderThanTheMusic.com Review.
“… buy several copies of this album; one for you, the rest for your friends, their granny and their dog! It’s not often that I rate an album 6/5, but this one just about clinches it!” – Nick Law, WorshipAtCrookes.org Review.
“… if the finished album sounds half as good as the live recording, then hearing these new songs will definitely be worth the wait.” – Sam Hailes, Christian.co.uk Review from the live recording.
THE CROSS STANDS:
The most worshipful track on the album, if there’s one song your worship leader(s) NEED to hear – it’s ‘The Cross Stands’:
Verse 1: “Beyond this life time, beyond this darkness there’s light // Your Cross is shining, so people open your eyes.”
Chorus: “The Cross stand above it all, burning bright in this life, the cross towers over it all // One hope one deliverer, saviour reigning high above it all, above it all.”
This song oozes Tim Hughes' masterful songwriting and reminds me of ‘Here I Am to Worship’. The lyrics are focused, helping those worshipping to look centre their hearts and minds on the Cross. I’ve already played this to our Worship Coordinator, and he (Andy) really likes it.
Nikki Fletcher takes centre stage with her rousing ballad – ‘Dry Bones’. Your first thoughts float towards scripture, but this song uses the famous passage from Ezekiel with subtlety and elegance.
With a soft and calming piano to begin the track, written with the help of Bethel Church’s pianist, Nikki’s lyrics then articulate the hungry Christian – pleading to God to have His way in our lives. It slowly builds into something spectacular, with a fiery and heart-felt bridge: “these dry bones will live again, we’re nothing without you.”
LET IT BE KNOWN:
Here’s where (for me) the album truly begins! This electronic fire cracker sounds like it’s been co-written with ‘The Scissor Sisters’ or ‘Dizzee Rascal’.
Listening to it makes me smile. You can tell Tim Hughes, and the whole band, thoroughly enjoy worshiping to this quirky number. But the most powerful element of their title track is the amazing potential it has to kick-start the worship dormant in a young person’s heart.
GOD MOST HIGH:
This track gets an instant clap-along from the crowd. With a chugging U2 style bass line, shaking tambourine and cheerful guitar/twinkly glockenspiel, Ben Cantalon takes hold of the lead microphone and sings a simple but solid chorus:
“God most high, here be glorified // In our eye, you are the light, the hope of the world // God most high.”
I had to look back at ‘Everything in Colour’, Ben’s solo album, and check whether this was plucked from his back-catalogue. It’s not, put it sounds like it should have been a bonus track. Undoubtedly penned by Cantalon, this song is nothing but pure jumpy worship.
Predicted to become the youth anthem for 2013 – ‘Our Generation’ has all the hallmarks to live on when 2013 is long gone. Led by Luke Hellebronth (who brought us ‘Spirit Break Out’), this song has a powerful sound and unique quality that will draw together the dissimilar youth culture’s in today’s society to sing in one voice.
With squealing guitars, dance-synth, catchy riffs, a beat-busting rap and a Kingdom-centred shout for freedom, I can see this song igniting the big top at Soul Survivor in Shepton Mallet and youth camps all our the world.
