Journey Into the Hush Arbor: Living in the Imagination of God is a five-session program for people of all ages. The Scriptures, stories, music, movement, games, recipes, skits, and crafts combine to provide a holistic, inspiring, Christian educational resource that will have your community jumping for joy! It is a program in which persons of every culture can appreciate that the wonderful opportunities God has imagined for African Americans are available to all people. Led by the Holy Spirit participants will journey together with a hope for loving relationships with one another through Jesus Christ.
Journey Into the Hush Arbor will give participants a chance to:
Experience imaginative journeys of hope
Listen to stories that connect biblical faith with Africana heritage
Imagine the opportunities God has for them
Share the Good News of Jesus Christ.
Journey Into the Hush Arbor: Living in the Imagination of God will help participants steal away to a place of creativity – the hush arbor – where enslaved people could free their minds and spirits, and learn the stories of hope and faith. In the hush arbor they could see a ladder that reached from heaven to earth, horses and chariots of fire, and the shining clothes of Jesus on the Mount of Transfiguration. Like Mary and the Ethiopian eunuch they could be up front as the Good News was shared rather than in places of segregation. In the hush arbor people in every time and circumstance can imagine the wonderful things that God has prepared and begin to journey towards leadership, relationship, opportunity, and love.
The Starter Kit includes: Director’s manual, Preschool/Kindergarten Bible Story, Younger Elementary Bible Story, Older Elementary Bible Story, Heritage/Drama, Arts and Crafts, Music and Movement, Outreach/Follow-up Activity Leader books, Heritage Recipes, Promo poster, 2 music CDs (Spirituals and Contemporary Gospel); samples of 4 student books, including the Teen, stickers, registration flyers, certificates, postcards and iron-on logos.
