I had to date them, a short novel written by Charice Smith. This book depicts the journey that portrays the hardships of dating with a subtle biographic undertone. The book begins with a quirky yet significant story starting from childhood sweethearts to adolescence and ending in adulthood relationships. The story is told from the aspect of the author inviting her audience to engage in a one on one conversation that enables opportunity to compare compelling experiences. The timeline begins with a reflection of the mid 80's escalading to the 90's that spirals into the early 2000's. The language for that era such as slang, the music, as well as the description of the clothes worn during those times all play a major role in the sequence of this story. The plot unveils 5 relationships that apparently all are one in the same. With the realization that one had dated the same person more times than one, they all had one common denominator. At the climax of the story the plot thickens with much revelation as well as answers to all the whys. As the surface of her dating comes to fruition, emotions shift and understanding begins to take place. This story is about dating as well as a reflecting relationship with one's father and the Father. The inspiration comes from within; the compassion comes from the heart and with such passion as one's self is revealed, brings forth peace through liberation. One discovers her worth and purpose is to tell the world so they too find their purpose as well as peace. Although this short novel displayed by Charice at times could be heart breaking, the journey made me who I am. If it had not been for the path I took in life, the friends I made along the way as well as the relationship I had with my father, I would not be who I am. The change in my life came about when I was tired of failing God after seeking his face. I discovered myself when I found the Father in retrospect while writing this short novel; He was with me all the time. The same cries, heartache, pain, as well as misunderstanding were the way He felt toward me. The only way I could get free was through forgiveness. I had to forgive my father, forgive myself, and God forgave me. My purpose in life is so that someone else can be free, and for the God's glory.
