Recommended - Ian, Dundee, looking into serious theological study.
I'll be refering to this book often. It is clearly written, open to all. My reading of the Bible has been made much more interesting and challenging. An antidote to the profusion of 'lightweight' but best-selling Christian literature on the shelves today.
Excellent evangelical introduction to genres and their interpretation - Holger Szesnat, Cambridge
Fee and Stuart, both well-known in US-American evangelical scholarship, offer this popular introduction to the different (broad) genres of biblical writings: epistles, OT narratives, Acts, gospels, parables, law(s), prophets, psalms, wisdom, and revelation. In addition, there are a couple of introductory chapters in which the authors outline their historical approach within a framework of firm US-American evangelical theology. Their target audience seems to be more conservative students from a similar background. Yet even if that is not one's own provenance, and even if one disagrees with them a great deal (as I do), they make offer a useful, well-reasoned book.
Great Intro - Dave, Eden.co.uk
A great introduction into how to do Bible study. It covers subjects like choosing translations, methods of Bible study, and how to read types of Bible books. I really recommend this to anyone who wants to take their study deeper
