The Heavenly PartyMary Bartholomew, via The Good Book Stall
I would like to endorse the words of J. John on the front cover that ‘this book dances like fire on the imagination and kindles a warm glow in the heart.’ I always look forward to reading anything written by Michelle Guinness and The Heavenly Party could only have been written by her! With her background of growing up in a Jewish family and celebrating at every opportunity with family and friends, it was inevitable that she would miss this joyful behaviour when she became a Christian and subsequently married an Anglican priest. Over the years she and her husband have introduced into their family and church life many echoes of these Jewish celebrations. In so doing, they have highlighted the fact that this is the family and worship life with which Jesus would have been familiar. Over the years the church has taken to itself many ceremonies that were once performed in the home. In The Heavenly Party the author explains all this and suggests all sorts of ways that we can celebrate at home and together, giving some useful and mouth watering recipes at the back, to help you have a wonderful time.
