Subtitled “An Uncompromising Mission to Save Your Church,” Called to Stay is Caleb Breakey’s head on challenge to the apparent exodus from organised religion. His challenge to those thinknig about quitting is simple: “Stay and BE the change you want”.
Called To Stay is for those 21st Christians who have begun to feel a passion to leave the chruch. They’re considering leaving not because of idleness or desire to spend time elsewhere, but because - to them - the time they spend in church seems pointless in a broken world that Jesus is calling us to redeem.
“If you are one of these believers,” says Caleb, “the most important thing is to discern whether or not you’re hearing from the Holy Spirit—or simply what you want to hear.” The alternative to leaving that Caleb proposes is a renewed commitment to meeting together, discipling each other and extending sacrificial love to one another.
Full of scripture references as proof for each point he makes, Caleb leaves no doubt about the his sincerity, nor his love for the Lord Jesus, His church or His children. Breakey's desire is obviously to see believers discipled and growing in healthy churches.
He finds the delicate balance between boldness and humility as he calls for change makers to "infiltrate" a church that needs to be transformed so that believers look different to the world. If you're out of church or thinking about getting out and are somewhere between the ages of 15 and 30, ‘Called to Stay’ just might be what you are looking for.
