Fire on the AltarIan Gibbs, via The Good Book Stall
Something happened in Wales in the years 1904-5. Was it the last hurrah of Non-conformity in the Principality and a major stirring of Pentecostalism? Whatever it was, was it led to all intents and purposes by the still enigmatic figure of Evan Roberts? Dr Gibbard guides the reader – at times almost in daily detail – through the events of the ‘Revival’. He is clearly an enthusiast for it. More critical, sociological analysis needs to be applied to it to evaluate it’s fruits, and where it left the Welsh churches at the beginning of the twentieth century.
