Encounters with GodJackie Scott, via The Good Book Stall
For those who like to read devotional books this offers 30 chapters devoted to considering different characters from the Old and New Testament and how they came to meet with God. Each chapter is not confined to a particular book of the Bible but considers different passages concerning the character throughout scripture and then ends with a short prayer. It is designed to enable the reader to encounter God over 30 days. Any chapter is no more than 10 pages and is packed with thoughts from the Bible and the author that lead us to get to know God better as we study the person and the characteristic of God that is brought out by the encounter. This is not light reading and needs time and space in order to meditate and pray on the aspects that are raised. And whilst the style didn’t always suit me, I felt there was a degree of repetition and it was tough going, those who enjoy meaty devotional material and are able to meditate on several different strands concerning a topic will find this satisfying.
