Dealing With DawkinsAlan Hill, via The Good Book Stall
In 2006 Richard Dawkins, the well-known proponent of evolution and atheism published his book The God Delusion. His stated aim was that “religious readers who opened it will be atheists when they put it down”. The book was a worldwide best seller, but created a storm of controversy even in the pro evolutionary community. Professor Michael Rose said that The God Delusion makes me ashamed to be an atheist”.
Christian apologist John Blanchard has written a brief but powerful Christian response that pinpoints some of the major flaws in Dawkins’ arguments. He tackles subjects such as whether science can prove there is no God, the origin of morality, whether religion is a major root of great evil and the nature of the Christian faith, all matters dealt with by Mr. Dawkins in his book.
This book is very well researched with dozens of quotations and nearly 200 footnotes. Mr. Blanchard argues in a logical, gracious and clear way, never attacking the man, but just his teaching. He shows that Mr. Dawkins often makes grand unsubstantiated assertions and that he has a great ignorance of the Christian faith and the contents of the Bible.
This is a superb book. All Christians would benefit from reading it especially any who think that Dawkins has won the day. He has not. This would also be an excellent book to give to an unbelieving friend who has read The God Delusion or who thinks that science has got rid of God.
