Creating A Life With GodMelanie Carroll, via The Good Book Stall
I'm not quite sure whether to best way to sum this book up as a lovely beginners guide to different prayer practises, or a fantastic little activity sampler—whichever it actually is it is nicely done.
Short simple chapters both explain the prayer activity in an easy to understand and grasp way, and are followed by a brief historical context highlighted through a proponent of the method (referenced to in the book as our 'travelling companion'). Then it includes some activities and insights into how to undertake the prayer activity. I like the fact that it tries to give methods for not only individual use of these activities but ways in which it can also be used where possible as a group activity too.
It's a really nice and well presented book that can make a wonderful guide to trying some ancient but relevant alternative methods of prayer, the appendix with it's individual and group step by step models for the practises make this a really helpful book that serves many purposes but would make for a great small group study series in my estimation.
