‘I asked a number of young people how and when they had become a Christian. Several things struck me. They had all been converted as children. They could all remember very clearly where they were, who they were with and what happened. Most of them were with family members, often brothers and sisters as well as parents. It was obviously seen as a very important occasion.

Many of them spoke of having further experiences of God, at a later date, which were more dramatic and life changing; but these were entirely separate from becoming a Christian. That experience stood complete at the time it was made, no matter how young they’d been.’
