Calling Christian Leaders
Full Product Description
In stark contrast, he urges that our view be determined by our view of the church, not the other way round. Focusing on 1 Corinthians 1 - 4, he demonstrates the centrality of the theme of 'power through weakness'. He explains the role of the Holy Spirit in God's revelation, and examines four of Paul's most striking models of ministry, each of which is an aspect of humility. Over against seductive styles of leadership being advocated by the wisdom of the world, he urges Christian leaders to be characterized above all else by 'the meekness and gentleness of Christ'.

Calling Christian LeadersGraham Wise, via The Good Book Stall
Here is John Stott at his very best, expounding Scripture and applying it in practical ways.
Calling Christian Leaders is a study of 1 Corinthians chapters 1-4 in which he tackles the issue of what leadership in the church actually means—is it determined by culture or the demands of Scripture?
He argues that our view of the church should be biblical and that leadership should reflect the pattern of teaching found there; that leadership as advocated by the world is a distraction from the humility in leadership demonstrated by the apostles. The central argument of the book is the apostle's theme 'power through weakness'.
Stott sets out five individual themes: The ambiguity of the church; Power through weakness; Holy Spirit and Holy Scripture; The church and the Trinity, and, Models of ministry, with a concluding section of Christ or Culture?
This is an exposition of 1 Corinthians 1-4 highly recommendable to all preachers and church leaders.
