At Home and the Church Pupil's Book
Full Product Description
This book introduces two children who are both Christian: Tom, whose family goes to an Anglican church, and Megan, whose family goes to a Baptist church. Through the eyes of the children the book explores the key features of their worship at their respective churches. The similarities and differences will be highlighted and discussed by the children and identified for teachers in the Teacher’s notes in the Big Book.
Topics on homes, families and special places are common in early years’ classrooms and address the themes of the non-statutory framework of RE for Foundation and Key Stage 1. Read as a class text, by groups of children or by independent readers, this series provides a lively introduction to each faith and a sound basis for classroom discussion and activities.
There is also a pupil's book available in packs of 6 and a big book specially for teachers, as well as Welsh language editions.
Lynne Broadbent has been teacher trainer and adviser in RE and writer of teacher and pupil-based resources for over thirty years.
John Logan is a headteacher of a London primary school and has previous substantial experience as an adviser in RE.

At Home and the ChurchSue Cooper, via The Good Book Stall
At Home and the Church is from a series of books suitable for 5-7 year olds about the different layouts and furnishings to be found in various places of worship. In this book Tom, an Anglican, takes his friend Megan, a Baptist, to visit his church and points out to her all the interesting features. The illustrations are clear and would help any young reader to recognise the named items. Included in the text are Megan’s observations about how similar things are presented differently in her church. At the end of the book there are a series of small pictures of items mentioned in the text and the reader or listeners are invited to respond to these prompts with as much detailed information as they can recall.
