Find Out MoreThe drama of a novel meets scholarship in leading Christian biographer John Pollock's classic work about one of the most transforming persons in history: the apostle Paul.
The Apostle masterfully combines careful adherence to biblical text, detailed research, and a storyteller's gift to create a book equally relevant for both casual readers fascinated by Paul's life and serious biblical scholars. Pollock begins his fast-movig narrative with Stephen's death and follows Paul through his conversion, missionary journeys, and eventual execution. Many will enjoy it simply as a satisfying and insightful true-life story, although maps and a study guide allow for deeper exploration. The Apostle was originally published in 1969, and this new edition marks the first significant revision in many years.
Apostle, The by John Pollock was published by David C Cook in January 2012 and is our 8974th best seller. The ISBN for Apostle, The is 9780781405737.
Long ago I read the 1969 edition of this title from Hodder and Stoughton and the impression it made remained with me all these years, so that I was only too willing to read it again in this new edition from David Cook.
Just the name John Pollock as author is a recommendation – I have several of his books on my shelves.
So much has been written about Paul, and there is a lively interest in him at the moment. John Pollock’s book tell his story as a biography, and in so doing he has had to conjecture what happened to Paul in periods where no records exist. These times are clearly set out and because they are written with a deep knowledge of the man, help to make the story complete.
While reading you feel as if you ‘know’ this man. You travel with him in imagination, suffer with him in his trials and rejoice in his tribulations.
