The original meaning of the word Lent was spring, or ‘holy spring’. Just as spring is a time of growth and renewal, the season of Lent challenges us to change and grow. The aim of A Fresh Start With God is to help us to do this, and to provide us with a few seminal thoughts to enable to us to focus on God each day of Lent, contemplate the mystery of his love, and encourage us to make a fresh start in our relationship with him.
This book has been written for busy people, who can use it before work, on their way to work, or in their lunch break; there are 47 days of scripture readings, reflections and prayers, culminating in the joy and triumph of Easter. Each day or chapter is short and succinct, but nevertheless enables us to let the hidden truths of Scripture touch our emotions, minds and wills and connect with the God who suffered, died and rose again to express the enormity of his love for us.
A Fresh Start with God will help us to ask searching questions about how we live and pray, and discover what lessons we can learn as we journey with Jesus from his baptism and time of testing in the wilderness to his suffering, death and resurrection.
