“There is an island off the west coast of Britain, known as the Isle of Tides. It was once a place of Christian pilgrimage - it held an abbey and it is said that a thousand saints are buried there. Today the island is still, only the song of the sea birds will carry over the water to you as you approach. You can travel there still, if you hire a small boat in the nearest harbour… Our fascination with this island and its story began many years ago, when we took a holiday on the nearby peninsula. In between writing most of the songs for our Celtic Psalms album, we took time to explore the area. Climbing to the ancient hill fort we saw, for the first time, the islands off the coast. They lay, dark and still, in a sea that shone like silver. It was only later that we began to read about the history of the Isle of Tides. We were desperate to visit the island as soon as we could, but the weather turned, and as Sarah gets appallingly seasick, we never made it!
