Sanctus Real, the band from Toledo, is back with their fabulous new album, "The Face of Love." Once again, the guys prove themselves to be capable musicians - new bassist Dan Gartley has comfortably joined the band - and composers who are not afraid to address the breadth and depth of the human experience, even when that experience is personal and painful. This album closely mirrors the band members' real lives during the year previous.

"I'm Not Alright" might seem an odd beginning to the collection - a song reeking of confusion and pain - but it makes a complementary bookend to the CD's final selection, "Benjamin," an ode to beginnings and endings, a making of peace with the finiteness of life and of God's ultimate control.

In between, the band becomes "Eloquent" as the members acknowledge human shortcomings and failings and contrast them to God's competence. "Fly" reminds us that although life can be a struggle, God is with us throughout. The album's title cut,"The Face of Love" rejoices in God Himself and His "face that changed the world." The listener is reminded of the fundamental message: "No one's too lost for You to love." Sanctus Real's intimate knowledge of that message is its ultimate strength.
