Full Product Description
Andrew Jones considers pilgrimage both in terms of a popular spiritual practice and in terms of what it can teach the church.
The book also focuses on the eight popular UK and Irish sites of pilgrimage, linking particular insights to the traditions they represent. It reflects on why pilgrimage is growing in popularity while church attendance is in decline.
Andrew Jones states -
"Significantly, this act of remembering - pivotal to pilgrimage - not only offers a life-transforming way out of that exile situation but points to the way 'home'".
Pilgrimage by Andrew Jones was published by BRF in May 2011 and is our 36874th best seller. The ISBN for Pilgrimage is 9781841018348.

PilgrimageMary Bartholomew, via The Good Book Stall
I found the first three parts of this book academic in tone, and they took quite a while to read as there was so much to take in, but I was rewarded by the final part, where the author describes the experiences of those he has met on pilgrimage: the situations they were in before they came, their reasons for being in particular places and what being there had meant for them. At this point all that had gone before made perfect sense and I was so glad that I had read the whole book, not skipped through as I confess I was tempted to do. If you want to know the full story of Pilgrimage this is the book for you. Andrew Jones tells the story from Old Testament times through to the present day, enabling a much fuller understanding of a familiar term.
