‘Well no matter who you are // And no matter what you’ve done
There will come a time when you can’t make it on your own
And in your hour of desperation // Know you’re not the only one
Praying “Lord above, I need a miracle”.’
As you can see from the chorus lyrics of the title track above, and the featured video to the side, Third Day have done it again – Miracle has a beautifully re-imagined sound that’s yet again truly inspirational.
With an impressive back catalogue, Third Day has a reputation to protect. So with the release of ‘Miracle’, they had to capture the hearts of both their loyal fan base and many critics. The band decided to hire legendary producer Brendan O'Brien (who has worked with Bruce Springsteen, Pearl Jam, The Fray & Train) as a creative and practical driving force in forging this album.
The result is an astonishing album that will put a smile on the faces of die-hard roadies, get the thumbs up from reviewers and throw the doors wide open to a whole new group of potential listeners. The Christian band has always stayed true to their southern roots, taking most their inspiration from Lynyrd Skynyrd. Miracle adds a fresh layer to their ever-changing sound, with a choral flavour thanks to layered harmonies and hundreds of rocking guitars riff.
Although their music is progressing, lyrically the band always delivers inspirational and cultural messages that never disappoint. Overall, this 12-track album has something to offer everyone. No matter how old or young, every Jesus rocker is going to enjoy every track.
Miracle CD by Third Day was published by Authentic in November 2012 and is our 5332nd best seller. The ISBN for Miracle CD is 083061094621.

As they prepared to write and record their next album, Miracle, the band hired legendary producer Brendan O’Brien (Bruce Springsteen, Pearl Jam, The Fray, Train) to help them forge a new sound.
From the opening track, “Hit Me Like A Bomb”, it is clear that Third Day means business when they say they want to bring something new to the table.
Musically, there are sounds that have never been on a Third Day album including layered guitars, layered harmonies, and sing-a-long gang vocals. Music styles range from pulsating rock to acoustic pop-rock, yet the classic Third Day sound everyone loves is still there but refreshed and rejuvenated. Lyrically, the themes are relevant for our culture today. Songs about pressing on in difficult times (Your Love Is Like A River, I Need A Miracle), praying for change (Hit Me Like A Bomb, Believe In Something), and hope for better times (The Victory,Take Me Back).

Eden Article: Story Behind the Song – I Need A Miracle
When you’re an America Mega-Rock Band your influence reaches across the airwaves, as well as the internet and many TV stations. So when Mac Powell sat down to write this tune, he was fully aware of the magnitude of his responsibility in writing lyrics that affirm and uplift instead of belittle and tempt.
CONVERSATION AFTER A GIG:
Third Day play to sell-out crowds across the globe, but still take the time and energy to listen to their fans.
One night an older couple walked up to the front and told them about their son. Depression was driving him into addiction and causing his life to spiral out of control. So he made that final decision to himself to end the hurt. He got in his car and drove towards the woods.
The silence was eating at his conscience and his soul, so he turned his radio on to comfort him. Third Day’s song – ‘Cry Out To Jesus’ – blasted out the speakers:
“To everyone who's lost someone they love // Long before it was their time
You feel like the days you had were not enough // when you said goodbye
And to all of the people with burdens and pains // Keeping you back from your life
You believe that there's nothing and there is no one // Who can make it right.”
“There is hope for the helpless // Rest for the weary // Love for the broken heart
There is grace and forgiveness // Mercy and healing // He'll meet you wherever you are
Cry out to Jesus, Cry out to Jesus.”
THE HIDDEN POWER OF LYRICS:
Some people listen to songs as background noise, other as motivation for jogging or writing an essay, while others just love the music. But when you’re looking for inspiration, acceptance or even the will to live, songs often capture your heart and your mind.
That’s what happened to the son. Listening to the Third Day track brought him back from point of suicide with the theory of crying out to God. He did, and his life completely changed. In fact, the changed man was planning on coming to the gig with his parents that evening to thank the band personally, but instead went on a mission trip!
‘I NEED A MIRACLE’
After countless stories, such as this, Third Day decided to write a song for that exact purpose. A radio track that would proclaim to those listeners who are looking for inspiration, acceptance or the will to live the answer they know will help – Christ.
‘I Need A Miracle’ is a credit to the band. It lyrically and musically lifts your spirit. I encourage you to listen to the song and consider whether there is someone you know who’d benefit from listening to those knock-out lyrics.
You never know ... it could save their life?
