| Job Title: Chief Executive Officer Reports To: More Than Gold Trustees (through the Chair) Context: More Than Gold is a recently established charity co-ordinating the Christian Church in its response to the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Hosting London 2012 offers the Church a wonderful opportunity to play a full role in delivering the best Games possible, to inspire a new generation to greater sporting activity as well as making London a better place to live and to work. In previous major sports events the co-ordinated response of the Christian community has served the various organising committees to deliver the best experience possible by mobilising volunteers, providing hospitality for family members of athletes and coaches, delivering community events around opening and closing ceremonies, offering chaplaincy services and serving spectators, amongst many other activities. Reporting to the Board of Trustees, the CEOs role will be critical in giving clear direction and leadership to the breadth of the Church, parachurch and missionary organisations willing to partner leading up to and during the Olympic Games. The position will give the successful candidate an unprecedented opportunity regarding sport and faith in mobilising the Church towards the opportunities that 2012 will present. This role carries a Genuine Occupational Requirement for the post holder to be a Christian Job summary: The CEO is responsible for leading, managing and co-ordinating all processes and programmes, through staff and volunteers, to deliver the Christian response to the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Main duties involve: Setting up and overseeing the operations of the More Than Gold charity Creating, overseeing and delivering to deadline the More Than Gold business plan Leading and managing the Executive Team Representing More Than Gold among the national and local Christian community, faith groups, local community, Olympic Delivery Authority and other stakeholders Liaising with relevant organisations, groups, agencies and the community to facilitate the aims of More Than Gold Specific Functions: 1. Oversee the operations and management of More Than Gold Recruit and effectively manage the More Than Gold Executive and Programme Teams Set up and deliver a business plan to deliver the aims of More Than Gold Oversee budgeting and financial management Derive and implement appropriate fundraising strategies to enable the implementation of the business plan Regular feedback and communication with the Chair and Trustees 2. Oversee the development and implementation of the More Than Gold programmes Work with the Trustees to determine the More Than Gold programme Implement the More Than Gold programme to successful completion 3. Represent More Than Gold To the national and local Christian community, faith groups, local community, the London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games (LOCOG), Olympic Delivery Authority and other partners and stakeholders Facilitate the partnership aims of More Than Gold by casting vision and building coalitions to deliver the initiative Ensure effective communication of the More Than Gold purpose and programme to its various constituencies Experience: Proven skills in managing and leading an inclusive team, creating and developing partnerships, administration, organisation, project / event management, communication and committee processes. Knowledge, skills and abilities: Can demonstrate the ability to work in sympathy with and be able to promote the social and spiritual aims of the widest cross-section of the Christian Church Can demonstrate a passion and an ability to envision the Christian Church to engage with sport Proven experience of leading, motivating and managing a team and volunteers Can demonstrate an ability to build relationships, inspire engagement and mobilise a diverse group of stakeholders Proven experience of planning, developing and implementing business plans and programmes Can demonstrate the ability to manage budgets Has proven experience in the day-to-day administration of managing and co-ordinating projects to deadline Can demonstrate effective communication skills (including verbal skills, presentations and written communication). The candidate should be experienced with speaking publicly in a church setting Can demonstrate the ability to use PC applications Requirements: 1. Ability to work legally in the United Kingdom (UK) 2. Ability to travel within the UK or oversees as required 3. Ability to work evenings or weekends as required Salary and benefits: Salary range: Up to £50,000 plus benefits but will consider more for an exceptional candidate. Location: The role is based in London (with some occasional travel as required) and will start as soon as possible with a fixed term until 2013. Hours: 37.5 hours per week, mainly office hours, Monday to Friday; some time will be spent during evenings or at weekends as required. Annual Leave: 25 days plus statutory public holidays. Review: A Probationary Review will be conducted under the Trustees direction six months following the appointment to ensure there is mutual satisfaction with the outcomes being achieved. An Annual Review will be held twelve months after appointment and every year following.
