| The Walsall Money Advice Project is a project of Walsall Community Church providing a free advice and advocacy service to members of the public. The project provides advice on Welfare Benefits, Debt Counselling and a range of other money and welfare issues. We are seeking to employ two Money Advice Workers whose duties will include visiting clients to provide advice on a range of welfare issues, casework including representation at tribunals, developing links with other organisations and assisting in future funding strategies. Experience is not essential as training will be provided. Car/Travel allowance available. Both posts funded for 3 years - fixed term contract - Post funded by National Lottery Charities Board DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Subject to training) 1. To provide Money Advice* to members of the public via community based surgeries, telephone help line and a home visiting service. 2. To support and develop working links other agencies in the Walsall Borough particular emphasis on those that have a clear anti poverty strategy. 3. To assist in the identification of training and development needs for the Project. 4. To attend conferences and meetings on Money Advice and related issues. 5. To undertake training to develop the required knowledge and skills. 6. To keep up to date with changes in relevant legislation and procedures, committee and organisational policy. 7. To plan, implement and evaluate money advice training courses. 8. To undertake from time to time such duties as the Senior Money Advice Worker / Project Manager may determine. * Money Advice Provision will include the following: a) The provision of debt counselling, welfare rights assessments and the pursuit of charitable and other grants where appropriate. b) Casework including representation at court and other hearings c) A commitment to the projects Anti Poverty Strategy that gives particular emphasis to empowering its clients through advice, advocacy and education in money matters. SPECIAL CONDITIONS Some evening and weekend work may be required. |
