| Portage & Early Support Service (Brighton & Hove) This challenging but rewarding post within a supportive and committed staff team offers an opportunity to develop creative and innovative work within a voluntary agency committed to social justice. We offer an exciting opportunity to promote the inclusion, participation and development of young children with special educational needs. You will provide a home visiting service to families with children under the age of 5 who have delays or difficulties in their development, and offer training and supervision to a team of volunteer home visitors. You will network with a range of professionals from statutory and voluntary agencies promoting integrated and co-ordinated services for children and the inclusion of black and ethnic minority families within the service and community. With a relevant professional qualification to Degree level, e.g. Teaching, Nursing or Social Work or an educational equivalent as well as relevant experience with disabled children and under 5's, you will have the ability to engage sensitively with families including those who are marginalised or socially excluded. Within this post, you will be required to work some evenings and very occasional weekends. Your own transport is essential. The project works in partnership with Education, Health, Social Services and it also has a 2 year contract with Brighton & Hove Sure Start, ending on 31.3.02. This post consists of a 26 hour permanent contract plus a 9 hour temporary Sure Start contract per week until 31.3.02 to be reviewed. We would particularly welcome black and ethnic minority candidates who are currently under represented in the service. |
