| WAVES PROJECT 'A Force for Change' Weymouth Working in partnership with a number of local agencies, Waves has both street credibility with young people and an enviable reputation with professionals. The project offers an information and advice service for 14-25 year olds, together with a number of specialist services attached to this 'hub' including: a Housing Action Scheme; a Family Mediation Service; and an Advocacy Project for 'looked after' young people in Dorset. Additional services are provided by our partners from the Waves building. A choice of a range of affordable accommodation is one of the main needs of young people leaving home. Unfortunately, in reality little is available especially for young people with limited family support. In this post your aim will be to increase the range of housing options available to young people in Weymouth and Portland and to support young people who use Waves in finding and keeping a home. You will need a housing qualification or substantial experience in the housing field and a good working knowledge of relevant legislation (Housing Act 1996, Children Act 1989 etc.). You should also have experience of working with young people. For an informal discussion about either of the above posts please contact Vanessa Harrison, Project Leader on (01305) 768768). |
