| Youth Link, Birmingham Based in the City Centre, Youth Link provides information, advice, advocacy and support for young people at risk on the streets. As part of a national programme of work responding to the needs of young runaways, Youth Link is also developing preventative services within The Children’s Promise Millennium Appeal. If you have the skills and abilities we need and want to play a part in the exciting changes ahead we would like to hear from you. You will have substantial experience of working with young people in difficulty and a commitment to anti-discriminatory practice and young people’s rights. A high degree of listening and advocacy skills is required whilst a knowledge of issues and systems affecting young people is essential in order to provide individual support to black and Asian young women. You must have a professional qualification at Diploma level or above in Youth & Community Work or Social Work or a nationally recognised equivalent. (This is a Genuine Occupational Qualification post under Section 7.2e of the Sex Discrimination Act 1975 and Section 5.2d of the Race Relations Act 1976). Closing date: 12th March 2001.
