| SPCK is seeking a General Secretary as successor to Paul Chandler, who is leaving to become chief executive of Traidcraft. The General Secretary is chief executive of the Society, which is one of the UK's leading Christian publishers, runs a chain of 32 Christian bookshops throughout England and Wales and operates a grants programme to support theological education and Christian communication projects in the developing world. SPCK employs more than 250 staff, with an annual turnover of over £10 million and net tangible assets of some £14 million. It has a growing and innovative presence on the Internet. In an exciting period of modernisation and change for SPCK, it is looking with confidence to the opportunities ahead. Founded in 1698, SPCK is the oldest Anglican mission agency and is committed to serving Christians of all theological traditions and denominations. The successful candidate will be a communicant Anglican, with proven leadership and management skills, imagination and a broad understanding of church affairs. Applicants must share the Society's vision and be able creatively to take forward the achievement of its missionary objectives.
