Hillsong United

Hillsong United is Australian Christian rock and worship band that is part of the Hillsong Church.  There are around 16 members in the band both male and female that are all of different ages. The band tours various churches and other venues located all around the world. The band was originally formed by close friends within the Hillsong ministry that named themselves “Powerhouse Youth”.  The Band performed the music of The Hillsong ministry, but played louder, rockier contemporary praise and worship music, which appealed to the youths. Through the years they performed many songs and grew bigger. In the late 90s the band decided to spit into two different groups of the Hillsong ministry, which were Powerhouse for 18 – 25 years and Wild for 12-17 years. In 1997 the youth ministries of the Hillsong church joined together to perform various nights to the ministries that they called United nights, which lead to the beginning of the group Hillsong United and made there first album in 1999. After many songs and albums were released the band grew and rebranded as Hillsong United in 2002.

The band is more commonly known for their ninth album and the first of a three part projected called “I Heart Revolution. The project took 2 years to complete and was recorded around the world and consists of 30 songs. In 2008 the band released the album in Australia, which was later realised around the world. The message of the I Heart project is, “to help more people, help more people”. The idea is to create awareness around the world of real issues that are happening in order to help others in need and create a world that is united as one. There are 20 I heart causes that currently exist that are all moral panics around the world, which include access to water, access to food, poverty, human trafficking and many more.  The Hillsong United band have various social network pages, such as Twitter, Facebook and MySpace where you can keep up to date with their latest news.
