Help! She's Struggling With Pornography

I approached this booklet with some trepidation because it is a subject that we either veer away from, fail to confront or do not see as an issue for those in our church community. Whether we avoid this issue because of ignorance or fear, the reality is that victims of this addiction are embarrassed, fearful and unsure of where to turn for help. In a society that makes light of preserving sexual activity for marriage and advertising, music, films and television all trivialise modesty and purity, we are influenced in no small way by the world we live in. Statistics on internet pornography use alone are startling for women, with figures of 1 in 6 women struggling with pornography addiction and 1 in 3 visitors to adult sites being women quoted here. This is a useful pocket sized guide that defines what pornography is, the very real threat that it is, understanding the addiction and how it can be overcome and how the scriptures can be our guide to cultivating a closer walk with Christ in the way He means us to live. While only a small part of the book, the section on personal application and personal examination is challenging to people who feel that this is an area that leaves them unaffected. We are all subject to temptation and willingly or unwillingly, we are witnesses to others. Sexual sins are not always committed openly and if the reader challenges themselves honestly, they will pray for themselves and others more aware of the devices the devil can and does use to bring them down.
